My early morning coffee run lead me to a familiar tune , Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way’ played on the saxophone by Bandra’s favourite trumpet player, Joe Vessaokar from Bazaar Road.

I spent a  day with Joe, listening to his anecdotes about his life, how Bandra’s changing and of course Jazz music.

  1. Prayers at St. Peter’s Church, a daily ritual, if you’re lucky, you’ll hear him in the choir.
  2. Joe & Bollywood, Joe’s done his fair share of work in Bollywood, having played the trumpet for movies including Khalnayak and Dev D.
  3. On the streets of Bazaar Road, often entertaining on lookers.  
  4.  Joe on his throne, his favourite practicing spot.
  5.  At home, Bazaar Road, Bandra.
